Given the current state of the world, it’s more important than ever for people to be able to achieve some measure of balance in their lives. To keep from becoming over-stressed, overworked, and weighed down by things beyond our control, we need to be able to find a little bit of peace from time to time. If life is constantly hectic, it may seem like finding a window of serenity is impossible, but there are plenty of ways to ensure that you get some time to yourself in order to disconnect from all the craziness and recharge.
1. Take Some Time to Treat Yourself
If you are constantly interacting with other people and making sure that their needs and comforts are met, you will likely feel burned out sooner rather than later. One of the most direct ways to balance out the reliance of others on you with what you need to feel good and healthy is to take some time to yourself. It’s not only about having some time on your own, it’s also about treating yourself. Block off a couple hours to do something you really enjoy, whether it is getting a manicure/pedicure, going for a massage, spending some time shopping, or getting your favourite kind of ice cream and going to a special spot to eat it.
2. Utilize Essence Therapy
Plant essence therapy has been utilized for centuries to treat myriad mental and physical afflictions, and over the course of the last ten years it has become more and more popular. When you mention essence therapy, some people may mistakenly think of essential oils. However, essential oils and flower essence are two different things. Essential oils are mainly diffused for the scent, whereas flower essences are meant to be placed under the tongue.
Flower essences are a popular go-to when searching for a sense of balance. Some, such as Dear Mother’s I Can Essence, are meant to ease hopelessness and help you face your fears, letting you reconnect with your inner self and your sense of purpose.
3. Expand Your Horizons
Learning something new, particularly something you enjoy, can be a great way to relax and rediscover what it’s like to just let all your burdens go. Learning to paint, crochet, knit, and embroider can be a great way to shut off the worrying part of your brain. It doesn’t have to be a traditional type of hobby, though – you can learn any new hobby and as long as you enjoy it, you will be discovering a new kind of much-needed balance.
4. Minimize Your Exposure to Toxins
As the heading suggests, your path to achieving balance is best done by minimizing your exposure to toxins. While this does include unhealthy food, drinks, and habits, it also includes any other kind of toxicity in your life, such as relationships or situations. A toxic situation or relationship are the ones that make you feel unpleasantly overwhelmed and hopeless. Remember that your happiness matters, and take the steps you need to cut out the excess negative in order to even out your emotions and mental state.
5. Embrace Silly Joy
All too often we shove aside the simple, silly things that bring us joy for fear that they are a waste of time or because we worry about what others might think. However, these simple, silly things can be just what we need to inject a bit of welcome levity into our lives. If you like to sing and dance while you clean your house, or eat cake icing out of the can, or wear your favourite ugly sweater out in public, don’t be afraid to do it! Sometimes the silly things are just what we need to feel better about ourselves and the world around us.
