Creative Nursery Decorating Ideas

One of the most enjoyable projects for expecting parents is designing the nursery. It is a blank canvas that you can turn into whatever kind of space you want, be it detailed or minimalistic. While the baby won’t be able to give much in the way of input, it’s important to keep in mind that the nursery will be the space where they sleep and play, so you want to create something that will appeal to them as they grow older. It’s also important that you enjoy the nursery given how much time you will be spending there, so feel free to decorate it in the ways that appeal most to you. Not sure where to get started? Here’s a quick look at some creative nursery decorating ideas to help you out.
Colour is one of the first things babies become enamoured with, so why not make sure the nursery has complimentary shades to catch the eye? You can also run with a rainbow theme, which will ensure that no matter where you look, there will be plenty of colour for the baby (and anyone else in the nursery) to enjoy.
You don’t necessarily need to include every colour of the rainbow. Instead, consider rainbows made of different shades of the same colour. Rose creations has a gorgeous macrame wall hanging that is different hues of pink that would look lovely on a nursery wall.
If you do decide to go with a traditional rainbow, consider leaving the walls a solid colour and adding in elements of the rainbow elsewhere through rugs, curtains, blankets, and artwork. This will ensure the rainbow theme is tastefully appointed rather than being overwhelming.
Babies are a type of magic all on their own, so why not celebrate that magic by creating a nursery with an enchantment theme? Set up a focus wall with a depiction of a magical forest and choose decor that fits in with that theme.
Willow & Faie have a selection of decor that would go perfectly with an enchanted nursery, including their decorative fairy “Lily.” This beautiful little fairy will bring an extra bit of pleasant wonder to a nursery but will also feature well as decor even when your child is older.
Kristy Wildling’s Daisy Felt Ball Garland will add an extra level of wonderful magic to an enchantment nursery theme and can be strung from the roof, around windows, or across the walls.
There are so many ways to bring an enchanted feel to a nursery, including fantasy-themed stuffed animals, artwork, mobiles, and blankets.
Another great way to decorate a nursery is to do so through personalisation. Stuffed animals, paintings, and mobiles that display your baby’s name would be delightful additions. Personalised items are also great gift ideas to give your family for when the baby finally arrives!
Nora Lane’s Everlasting Nursery Plaque will make the perfect finishing touch for your child’s nursery. Made from wood, acrylic, and dried florals, this plaque displaying your baby’s name is elegant and sure to draw the eye.
The nursery is a great place to exercise your creativity, so don’t be afraid to get swept up in ideas! Your baby will love their room no matter what, but it’s important for you to love it too! Experiment with colours and themes until you find the ones that fit perfectly with your vision!
